Place of Peace

Our outer is conditioned by our inner. When I go for a walk with my eternal and faithful companion, the camera, I find peace not only in the images, but also in myself. This principle is the basis of my style Conversations with Life, and in this project I continue to dialog with phenomena and unconscious images, where I direct the focus of my attention. My work also references Japanese culture — its contemplation and self-expression through calligraphy. The brush itself painted through me, responding to the feeling of each image.

In urban landscapes, I am always interested in finding places where nature takes over and occupies the most space, compared to architecture. It doesn’t matter if it’s a tree with a powerful perennial trunk whose branches stretch towards the stars, or delicate snowdrops waking up from their winter sleep, or pieces of sky freed from wires, streetlights and the roofs of high-rise buildings.

It is often in such places of retreat that I meet the greatest number of relaxed people, contemplating, creating, giving. Time takes its natural turn — there is a pause between reactions, an opportunity to exhale and think.

Botanical gardens in the fall and winter are my salvation and a source of inexhaustible inspiration. Fortunately, Prague has many such cradles of nature where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and the noise of the streets. Here, the body instantly feels safe and responds with relaxation.

An interesting find for me was a tree as if covered with tattoos — someone’s initials, declarations of love, important words and dates. It seems that people want to touch something eternal not only in nature, but also inside themselves.
